Hi

I'm new to SolidWorks and couldn't make it right.

I have a container body that I want to put decoration on, but can't manage to do it well.
In this case I've sketched and extruded sample waves.
The exact dimensions don't matter but I do want the waves to go all around the container, including the rounded corners.
Can anyone help me with that issue?

Thanks,
Yair.

Try making it as a sketch and projecting it onto the face. Used to work for a plastic container company and seen that done often. An example that you can find on the shelf is the airwick caps like this one - - that swirl was done with a projected sketch onto the surface, then it was used to split the face and it worked very well...

I an not running 2015, so I cannot open your file, but try that out instead of making an extrustion.

Thanks.

In my case I can't manage to do it like that, as it is a conic rectangular container with fillets.
If I manage to calculate the angles and project it, when I extrude it stays with spaces between the planar face and the curve.
How do I need to split the face?

Thanks again!
Yair.

Splittng the face is like projecting it, but it becomes its own face and you can remove just that area that you split. Other than that, I am not sure how to explain it.

Here is an example of a split face projected onto both sides along with some surfacing I did to get the offset looking face.
