Dedicated Controller Supplier

Hi,

I am looking for a supplier who can provide a low-cost, dedicated controller for a fuel metering application. The controller would need to include the following:

* Qty (2) pulse inputs
* Qty (2) RTD temperature inputs
* Qty (1) 4-20mA analog output
* Qty (1) pulse output
* Input power 120/240VA-50/60Hz or 24VDC.
* Operating temperature range of: 32F - 110F
* Comm's for programming and connecting a simple LCD HMI as an option.
* Processor/Logic to calculate corrected flow based on algorithms supplied by my company.

We deal a lot in PLC's, but as we're cost sensitive, and are looking at something scalable, a dedicated controller seems more appropriate.

Any idea on where to start? Thanks in advance...

Unfortunately, gas station metering has nothing to do with my application. The fuel is not even gasoline. I intentionally kept the functional specification generic to get a more comprehensive response.

Sounds like many of the EngTips members could do this for you. Depends on quantity. If medium volume, an arduino seems to fit the bill. But, since you may need to have a few components added, I would guess that a dedicated board is a better fit.

RK electronics makes small custom boards like that and will do the software development work for fairly small quantities. Google search should bring them up. I am not connected with the company.

Is this to be a product in a wall mounted enclosure?
Sounds like it doesn't control the flow, only monitors it?
If it's outside, is 32F really low enough?

The Arduino UNO Is something to consider. If you consider a PLC could do this and have that programming experience, this would give your company organic control of the product. This is a powerful product with easy to use software. Once developed that processor can be used in a custom board. The board house can work out some rough edges of the circuit to provide increased reliability, but you will know and understand the software. That is a big difference because an outside programmer will never understand the product the way you do and they won't be as responsive to the customer as you will. For less than $20 you can get started.
