Hi All,

Actually I need to define some linear and rotational springs as my building support in SAP2000 which behave Elasto-Plastic.
The problem is that I don't know in SAP2000 v.14 which element type should I use for modeling a linear and rotational spring? and the second question is that how can I define an Elasto-Plastic behavior for my spring?
It's worth mentioning that reading some of the other friends comments on this forum, I found out that some users suggest Link element to simulate the spring behavior in SAP2000 but as I found out it has some problem and can not reflect a good behavior specially for linear spring which must only transfer the axial load not the shear and moment.
I would Appreciate you kind help to this issue.

ehsan173,

what is ur building support condition? do u want to use rubber bearing for the support?
can use rub isolator and give the stiffness..

Dear 10mc07,

No actually my support condition is a new proposed type named as telescopic support which for the simplification we want to model some of them as linear spring and some others with rotational spring but the point is that they have to be in elastic region till the force in the spring is the same as building gravitational load and after that our building will go to the Rocking condition and the spring should behave in their plastic region.
