Hi guys, I've got a question about the definition of a job in Abaqus.

When you define a job, in the Parallelization section there is an option: "use multiple processors".
What does it mean?

It's this thing related with the type of processor of my computer? (I've got an i7-4870HQ, quad core @2.50Ghz)

Thank you!

Nearly all modern machines have multiple CPUs or cores. With that option you can specify how many can be used by the solver.

ok thank you!

So if I don't choose that option, will Abaqus use only one of my 4 cores?

And if I want to use all the "power" of my computer, do I have to select "4 processors"?

If you do not specify something and you have no command in your environment variables, then Abaqus uses 1 core. Everything else needs to be specified by the user.
