Deformation modeling

Hi,
I am trying to simulate the deformation of an assembly.
I have two parts in the assembly. One hard part and one rubber part. Their surfaces are in touch.
I applied the fixed boundary codition on the other surface of the rubber. There is pressure on the other surface of the hard part.
After simulation, when I check the deformation of the assembly I see the rubber is going inside the hard part.
How to prevent it ? I want the rubber part to be squeezed by the hard part.
Is there anything I am missing in my simulation?
I would appreciate if someone could help me on this.

You have to define a contact set. Right-click on contact/gaps and choose "define contact set". Select "bonded" then select the tuching surfaces.
A thought though, ar You performing a Nonlinear analys? rubber usually doesn´t deform lineary(sp?).

I have not specified the type of analysis.
As I am specifying one of the part material as rubber, shouldn't be it considered non linear type analysis by COSMOS?
I couldn't find the specific rubber material in the database. So, I have to define one material and "grouped" it into the rubber type.

Look under material properties when you choose your rubber.
If you check the dop down menu "model type" on the top you can choose between linear elastic isotropic or linear elastic orthotropic.

My remark about nonliearity in rubber was only to notify you of the problem. What you basicly will have when you simulate rubber in a linear analysis is that the rubber will behave like a cylindrical coil spring. In some cases this will work fine as a simplification, in some cases not.
I just wanted to make you aware of this when you look at the result of your study.

If you have a seat of CosmosWorks Advanced professional, then you will be able to do nonlinear analysis. I have CosmosWorks Designer, so I don´t know how you perform a Nonliear analys in CW AP.
