degassing process of white cast iron

hello there,

i have problems.

when we poured high chr. white cast iron in molds, metal melt has boiled in sprue.

we tried degassing technique with Al turnings, but more didnt not work.


a lot of gas porosity,and shrinkage too.


we cast high. white cast iron aprrox. 1500 celcius degree and in 15-20 seconds

This is strange. I have never seen a boil with this alloy. There could be an error in temperature measurement, as the thick Cr rich slag covers the surface. The moulds may not be sufficiently dry or the mould coat used must be of poor quality. Finally, check the ladles.
