Hi
Sometimes after I sew many surfaces together and save the file, I could not undo and delete a surface. Can somebody help me how to detach a surface from the group of sew surfaces and delete it. Thanks

Edit the Parameters of the Sew feature (Edit Parameters or Edit with Rollback, whichever is available) and when the Edit Sew dialog appears, make sure the Tool surfaces icon (2nd icon from left) is selected then Shift + MB1 to deselect the surface you want to omit from the Sew. OK out until the model updates and the surface should now be removed from the Sew operation, so you can MB3 -> Delete the surface now.

Ideauser,

Well of course you can't undo after you save. UG has never had this ability that I know of, and likely never will. This being said, the ability to remove a surface from a sew isn't dependant on the ability to undo... so try this:
Edit the sew feature... a dialog box will pop-up with two buttons towards the top (1 being the icon for the 'target' surface and the other being the icon for the rest of the surfaces (tool surfaces) being sewed to the target/seed surface, under the heading 'selection steps'). Simply click the second icon (so you can select or deselect surfaces via 'shift'+'click desired surface') and deselect the desired surface. The only caveat being that if the surface you no longer want is required for the sewing of the other surfaces to the original...

I work with surfaces often, and have never had a problem adding or removing surfaces to an existing sew feature.

BTW... the 'shift'+'select' thingy is just like the common MS select/de-select that everyone is (or at least should be) familiar with. :)

Hope this helps....

CAD should pay for itself, shouldn't it?

In NX 5 there will be something closer to what I think most Ideas users are looking for.

You will be able to 'Un-Sew' ANY face of any multi-faced solid or sheet body, EVEN if the original model was not even created as a sewn body.

This means I could create say a solid block primitive, and then 'Un-Sew' one or more of the faces resulting in separate sheet bodies. And this will not require any roll-backing or editing or undoing. It's just another 'feature' that you can 'add' to your model anytime that you wish and which will update if you edit any aspect of the model defined before the 'Un-Sew' operation.
