Hi all-

I need to remove some parameters form a customer Pro/Engineer wildfire part that I recieved. However, the parameters show "Locked" under the Access column in Tools->Parameters... dialog box. This is not allowing me to delete (or change) these parameters. My guess is they are not meant to be removed (or changed), however, these parameters are causing problems with our data management system and need to be removed.

Does anybody know of a work around for this problem?

Thanks.

Hey Hora,

Well, I think the exact name for the parameters (from the PTC support documentation) is "Intralink system paramters" which are set and locked by Intralink upon the part entering the system. Tell me if this doesn't answer your question.

Btw, these parts were made in Wildfire 2.0 (I don't have any other licenses anymore). If you really need a Wildifre example part I can probably cook one up.

Thanks in advance.

Adam,

Then must be the PDMREV, PDMREL, etc. I will keep you in touch.

A back-up outside Intralink should clear them. Give it a try.
See you tomorrow.

Adam and Steve,

Both you are right. I tried too with a 2001 file and, indeed the back-up does not reset the attributes. That's the bad news. The good news is that SAVE AS does!

So, instead a back-up, please perform a SAVE AS. Not part by part, but TOP level assembly. Use the template and the suffix to give them the new names, ex:"_NEW".

Now the tricky part: Remove all components from memory, erase memory, load the newley named assembly, and do again a save as in other folder using this the template and this syntax: "*_NEW" = "*". In this way, all components will be renamed as the originals. And all sytem attributes will be reseted.

Good luck,

Hi Steve,

No I don't have WF. We are still on Pro2001 (part time) Catia became the major CAD here :-(. I took an assembly from Intralink and I did a save as operation. And it worked. But yesterday I found a forum where someoane asked if a ProToolkit application can delete the Windchill parameters, because he tried in many ways without success. If we deal with Winchill parameters than maybe is not possible to delete them thru ProE.

By the way can you give me the name of these parameters of the Adam's part?

And another thing: Can you take an Intralink part and perform a save as operation? At least we can see if Intralink parameters can be deleted in WF.

Thanks a lot for keeping me in touch. Nasty problem we have here.

Hey guys,

Hora - I will do one better (I hope this works). I put a screenshot of the parameters again on my old school accnt. I cannot give a screenshot here because the picture is larger than 400 pixels square. I guess the parameters are Windchill system parameters, but the important thing is the parameters are locked and cannot be removed not where they can from as I have no access to Windchill or Intralink.

Heres the link:

Thanks for all your help. I really appreciate it.

Thanks Adam,

Indeed these are Windchill parameters. Still looking for a solution to kill them. I'm wondering if ProToolkit let me to access these parameters. I will check the documentation and let you know.
