Delete Undo Data

Over the years our migration path has taken us from:-

UGv16 > UGv18 > NX2 > NX4 > NX6(soon)

In NX2 & before, there used to be an option in the part clean up menu to 'Delete Undo Data' this option has now gone in NX4 and NX6.

The documentation in NX4 suggests that it should still be there, although the NX6 documentation has seen this option removed.

Question is:- What is the logic behind removing this command. As i understand it, the intention of the command was to force free, the undo cache and free memeory.

Has this functionality been put into another command, or should this option be put back in?

OK, while it is true that through NX 2.0, we did include an option on the Part Cleanup dialog to 'Delete Undo Data', when we added two additional options to the Part Cleanup dialog in NX 3.0, we decided to remove the 'Undo' option as the dialog was starting to get rather long.

The rational for removing the 'Undo' option was based on the fact that it was not really needed as the Undo Data is being deleted on a regular basis as a result of many different actions typically taken by a user during the course of an NX session.

For example, the system automatically deletes the current Undo Data, thus freeing up the system memory which was required to hold that Undo Data, whenever....

...you change your major module, such as when going from Modeling to Drafting to Manufacturing (you don't have to actually change modules, it's sufficient to just reselect your current module from the NX Start menu).

...you save a part file.

...you change the Display/Work part from one part to another.

Anyway, I hope this clears up the reason why this option was removed and how you can accomplish the same result by performing any one of many typical actions.
