jayk77, what drawing standards do you work to?

Most in this forum are on the machine design side of things ASME or ISO - not 'structural' as in buildings.

If that figure is the same as 1-33 in ASME Y14.5M-1994 then it's not the same case as the sketch the OP posted. Section 1.8.8 and figure 1-33 in ASME Y14.5M-1994 is about only dimensioning one side of a symmetrical part, dimensioning it from the center line. The OP is dimensioning across the center line.
