does anyone know where the real definition of the ANSI depth symbol is?
if i use the depth symbol ( the one that has a straight horizontal bar with an arrow pointing down at its midpoint ) where is this depth measured if is defining a drilled hole?
My view would show a hole with a drill point in the bottom of it. The callout could be .375 DIA X (depth symbol) 1.25
so it would be read as .375 diameter by a depth of 1.25.
where is the 1.25 measured? to the very point of the drill point shown or would it be interpretted as the depth of the .375 diameter and the drill point is not considered?
where is this defined? i do not see anything in the ANSI Y14.5 to define this.
