Hello ,

I have question about Desalter operation. I need to know what is wash water type and specification are recommended for desalter, references and codes such as API, NACE....etc ( see attached file).

I know that some refinery companies are using service water or stripped water. I asked above question because I investigate about corrosion failure for topping plant (cooler coils for mechanical seal at residue pump)

Zayed,

It depends on how many dessalination stages there is in your process. In my process I have two dessalters working in series; We use service water(acid water) in the first and clean water in the second to make sure that there will be no corrosion in the top condensers.
But if you have only one stage, you have to work with clean water for sure.
Hope it helps.
BRITTO.
