Hi,
I'm looking for some innovative and low cost ideas to improve our skidway. We have a 110 ton, 18 m long, 12 m wide ferry which we have been dry docking every fall on timbers burried in the ground. The ferry is pulled up over 30 m on a 15% grade.
Will probably replace the timbers with old steel bridge girders, but problem is we jack the ferry up for hull inspections. Any suggestions to adapt the skidway to avoid the jacking process? Need about 1 m for the inspection. Additional area is unavailable.
Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi,
Launching System selection depends on environmental configuration and many other parameters...
If you have enough depth of water there, you can use floating dock system instead of Slipway.
Detailed answer requiered more info about your case.

Increase the angle / grade of the launchway to get more height at the inshore end, and dig out underneath.

Alternatively increase length of slipway into the water and use blocks to increase the height of the ferry.
