Design of Baffle Wall inside of an Inlet 3

I seeking information on designing a baffle wall inside of an inlet.

My goal is to determine the required wall thickness and reinforcement for the baffle. My design intent is for the baffle wall to be a reinforced concrete wall.

Water needs to be able to go through the baffle wall, so an opening and sluice gate are required as well for the baffle wall.

Please see attachment for image of the preliminary configuration of the wall inside the inlet:

The project engineer has come back and requested that I should use a Type'C' manhole instead of an inlet.

The interior diameter of the proposed manhole will be 48". The original interior area of the inlet was 3 ft x 3 ft.

I would not think that their is an issue with using the same type of baffle wall ( the baffle wall that I designed was 3'-7" tall x 3 ft wide x 10 inches thick) for a manhole with an interior diameter of 48", but I thought I should run it by some on this board who originally guided me on the right path.

Comments/recommendations are appreciated.

Is there anything I should be mindful of when constructing a baffle wall into a circular interior manhole?

I would not think there should be a difference than constructing it into a square interior inlet, but I thought I would check.

Concept is the same. You should get gate and framing details from the supplier, and pay attention to sealing plan/details.

I am not sure what you mean by "pay attention to sealing plan/details"? Do you mean the detailing of the baffle wall reinforcing tying to the manhole walls & slab?

The manhole shape will be as shown in the image below. We will be using cast-in-place concrete instead of brick, but the shape/configuration will be the same.

When you say " get gate and framing details from the supplier" I believe you are referring to the sluice gate (and not the cast-in-place manhole), correct?

The change of the inlet/outlet shape does not change your original design. I wonder why ask again?

Thank you for the information, as always!
