Hello,

I am looking for technical information on the design of pressure-stabilized tank or "balloon tank". That kind of tank was used for the propellants of the centaur upper stage rocket. I have found a few documents online but I was wondering of some people might have experience with that kind of pressure vessel and if you have literature you would recommend me to read.

Thanks

that is WAAAY outside the scope of ASME [or API]. You actually need a 'Rocket Scientist'! [Thank you sir/madam, I have been wanting to use Rocket Scientist in a valid manner for my for my entire 35-year working life].

You will need an aerospace, or spaceflight, forum - sorry.

Hey Duwe6, thanks for your reply. I myself am an aerospace engineer but was hoping that that kind of design was sometime used in 'land applications' (and would have therefore some standards/design methodology).

I'll continue my journey in aerospace forums then :)

Oh by the way, what would be the "bible" for designing a pressure vessel?

IM not so HO: "Pressure Vessel Handbook" by Megyesy. I think that 14th Edition is still the 'latest & greatist'. Any edition will serve you well.
