Hello,

I've been trying to find literature, design guidelines or any source of conventional knowledge for the design and analysis of square-jaw positive clutches. Sometimes also called Dog-boxes, Dog-clutches or Straight-Tooth positive clutches, there seems to be very little information about them. I need to know in particular if like in Gears, there are naming, forming and manufacturing conventions in terms of teeth geometry, etc... but also if there is an established analytical method for sizing them (...rather than running a "model" in ANSYS)

If anyone can point towards any relevant literature or sources, I'll be extremely grateful.

Regards.

Thanks IRstuff, but the link supplied covers friction-clutch calculations and not positive clutches (not even spiral-jaw). I'm still after a square-jaw geometry so if anyone could help I will be very grateful.

Thanks.
