Design of Strip footing

What is the procedures to design a strip footing for load bearing walls? I know that i have to calculate the loading that comes from the slab beams to the walls, but i don't know how to convert this load into a bearing pressure..the strip footing is designed as an inverted beam??

This seems to be a very basic question that can be answered by any standard textbook. The key is to get the loads in terms of per unit length and then design a single unit.

In that reference, I am not sure why the critical section for shear (footing with masonry wall) is calculated at a distance 0.25*t from the face of the wall. ACI 15.4.2 has that requirement for calculating moments.

You said that "the strip footing is designed as an inverted beam??"

That is basically correct, but the footing spans not only along the wall, but transverse to it. If the footing is wide enough, then steel has to be provided both directions at the bottom of the footing - sometimes the top too depending on the loading situation.

Strictly speaking, the loading would be due to the reactions from a beam on an elastic foundation, but is seldom taken to that level.
