Does anyone have information on the structural design properties of Coniferous Species C24. Thanks

Thanks for the info guys

tvar,

it is important to note that it may be a bit more complicated than comparing the design stresses. There are probably different testing regimes and probability of exceedence e.t.c.

What is the reason you need this information?

We have a wood tower that is constructed from this material and we are checking the stresses in the members due to the effects of our erection procedures.

You need to watch K factors that modifies the grade stress given in the table to a permissible stress

i.e:
wet timber has a lower permissible stress than dry.
long-term loads have a lower permissible stress than short-term etc.

I recommend you to check out the following book:
"Mechanics of wood and wood composites"..
there are some tables that tabulated the issue.
hope that helps

pkobi,

Which country is this timber structure in and what codes are you using?

The timber structure is in the US, but I have the 2001 NDS which doesn't cover the C24 notation for this wood species.
