design table driven pattern

I'm new to solid works and am getting used to using the design table. I have an assembly where one of the parts size and number of instances will change in different configurations. D1@LocalLPattern1 is the number of instances. What would the heading be for the spacing?
Is there a good referance for parameter names somewhere?
we just switched from Inventor to SW.I like SW better as a whole but this is one area where Inventor is much better.

Why don't you double click the Local Pattern and let it show you the dimensions (The number of instances and the length). Then Open the DT and click on the appropriate dimension?

PaulnKY, good question. I've wondered the same thing myself. It would be nice to find a list of parameter names for a model. There are several features that are difficult to find the name for.
 
I virtually always use tthe selection method - why type? Granted you have to be careful. If the cell you want the name in is selected and you click on the dimension/feature value/any "object" its name will show up there. Unfortunately if you have any other cell in that row selected (ie. not the one you wanted) it will show up there instead!!!! May even overwrite one you already entered...... So being as a sketch is an "object" and perfectly acceptable to go into the parameter header row, you had better already have the sketch open (or the feature double clicked to show the dims) BEFORE you select a cell. Otherwise you will get boolean on the sketch name or feature (suppress/unsupress of something simlar) for your parameter when you click to get your dims displayed!!

After being created, the parameters can & should be renamed to a logical description. (eg. Overall Length or "Feature" Pitch or "Feature" Offset or Qty). It helps when later selecting them for insertion into the DT & makes the DT much easier for others (& yourself) to understand or troubleshoot.

The parameters can be seen by double clicking on the feature (in the FM tree or the graphics area) & can be renamed by RMB click on the parameter & selecting Properties

Check out faq559-590 by The Tick. It was written with equations in mind, but the same principles apply to DT's.

CorBlimeyLimey has an excellent point - D7@sketch5 and so on is really cumbersome - specially if you delete and redo some dims. Naming parameters (where permitted) is so much more efficient. When I am doing DT work, I always rename the dim's , etc immediately I insert them as I build the model. (focal length@optical geometry is so much easy to deal with from the get-go.) (BTW: You can effectively name a sketch and it's feature the same - you just add "sketch" or "sk" on the end the feature name.) Then goto, etc. work great in the feature tree.
