Can someone explain to me the value or need for a derived design table. I don't get why it would be important or valuable to create a derived design table.

Why is $USER_NOTES needed in a design table? Is it just a way to manually create a column or row header and not screw up the design table when you manually type in notes?

Where do you find the 32 bit integer number for $COLOR? I don't see the number in the Appearance Property Manager under color.

The color numbers are in the slider windows.

A decent example of when and why to use a derived configuration:

Imagine a configured model for many o-ring sizes. There are many configurations each with the nominal size of an o-ring. Each config has a derived config as well. The derived config is the "as installed" shape of the o-ring i.e. compressed.

Just an example.

I prefer to open my Design Table as Edit Table In New Window but when I do this and try to add a $STATE by double clicking on a Feature it won't work and I get an error message. When I do the same thing with the built in Design Table, no problem. What do I need to do so that I can use Edit Table In New Window and not lose functionality?

How do I stop this behavior -> In the Design Table I type something like $PRP@Description and the spreadsheet thinks this is an e-mail address. How can I stop this annoying behavior?

Go to Tools > AutoCorrect > Auto Format As You Type and uncheck Internet and network paths with hyperlinks

Thanks CBL. That one had been annoying me.
