Design Table Values

Is it possible for assigned design table values to drive a component mate in an assembly? I would like to create a custom mating distance property in my component and have it 'distance-mated' from a specified plane.

If that doesn't work you can establish a plane based based on a sketch, the dimensions of which are controlled by the table.

I do not see why a Design table in the assembly would not work for what you need. If you are trying to drive a components size within an assembly, you will have to in-context the part in the assembly.

I did something like this nearly 10 years ago using an Assembly Design table, planes, distance mates and In-Contexted parts. Just be sure you understand and know what you have already done if you start in-contexting parts. It can get very complex, very quickly.

Nella95,

The distance value in a mate is a dimension. It is controllable from the design table. Double click on your mate and you should see it. It works the same as a sketch dimension.
