we have a venturi scrubber which was desined pe ASME Sec. VIII. the venturi is U stamped and the design temperature is 932 DEG F. and the material is C-2000
we approched the manufacturer for a new venturi with additional note that the new venturi to be solution annealed at 2075 DEG. F FOR 10 MIN. W/ RAPID AIR QUENCH IN INERT ATMOSTPHERE to resist HCL attack.

then the manufacturer asked us to advise if ASME code stamp will be required. for if this unit requires an ASME code stamp, the maximum temperature they can design to for C-2000 material is 800 °F, and not 932 °F, due to code constraints.

can anyone help me to figure out what these code constraints are?

thx

ASME BPV Sect II part D lists the maximum allowable temperature for which any material (i.e. material grade and product form, as per the relevant ASMA SA/En spec) may be used.
If you're designing any equipment acc. ASME above this temperature, then the design is not in accordance with ASME, and you may not apply the stamp.
II-D is your key.

you are right but the maximum temperature listed in ASME Sec. II for this material C-2000 is 1400 DEG F.

Hastelloy C-2000 (UNS N06200), as listed on page 218/219 of the 2013 edt of II-D, can be used up to 800 F for the respective materials standards (ASME SB366/462/564/574/575/619/622/626).

Not sure where you have your info from.
