I am designing a flange to be integratated into a cast body so it need to be studded. I have had a look at ASME 16.5 and BS EN 1092-1 as the casting has to be design to machined to take a DN 50mm PN160 type 21 RF flange or a 2" ASME Class 600 Flange the casting is designed to take a maximum pressure of 160 Bar and will be cast from Cf8m or Duplex depending on the pressure and temperature of the application.

Most flanges i have designed for casting have a cast tube to the flange.

Do I design it to the required dimension given by ISO an ASME.

Or are there any further standard I need to look at espacailly with stud thread depth in to casting, stud type rolled or machined threads, and materal of studs.

Make sure that the "Area" of your cast-in flange is only dedicated to flange loads -- the body loading needs to be "held" by the calculated area without the volume of the flange.

Stud depth to be equal or a little deeper than a B16.5 studded flange. Rolled vs. cut threads are immaterial to ASME.

You have a great idea, just don't overcomplicate it. Also, make sure the casting house knows that the fully machined part will have to pass a hydrogen/helium 'bubble' test. ALL castings have internal shrink. It the caster lets the shrink get into the flange or stud areas, you have a "leaker" and it fails to meet Code.

Thanks for the reply do you know how suitalbl cf8m is for threaded stud, as it shaer strangth is around 205 Mpa

Thanks

CF8M = B8M
B8M is a standard stud material. Just have to design to its limitations. It is not a high-strength bolting material.

Sorry I meant C8FM for the threaded cast material,and stud bolts to be stainless steel grade a4-80.

thanks fro your help
