Many times i face a problem wherein there is a minor deviation in chemical content of a element for particular grade mentioned in ASME SEC IIA. But , the mechanical properties are met. Considering the functionality of the component we the manufacturer feel that the deviation should be acceptable as we are meeting the code requirements for mechanical properties. But the client does not accept it as the code chemistry is violating. What advice the experts have for manufacturer in such scenario.
We are procuring SA 572 GR 50 type 2 material. There is minor deviation in vanadium content. Mechanical properties are meeting code requirements. considering functionality, this deviation could be acceptable. But client is not accepting due deviation in Vanadium.
