I have 2 questions that I tried several days, finally I am here asking for help.

1. See the link for picture: I don't like the 'extra' extension line in my annotation. Is it possible for solidworks? how?

<img src="
2. See this link for picture: <img src="Is it possible to create a plane on top of this buoy shape part? Just like you put a board on top of it.
Problem is, this is an imported part, no sketch is available to see the dimensions. I know that Pro/E can do this job easily, but solidworks…I tried all ways I could, not being able to figure out.

Any comment would be appreciated.

oldboot,

1) Click on the dimension, click More Properties in Property Manager, uncheck "Display with solid leader".

2) You should be able to make a cut through the part to get the diameter dimension.

2) Make a section through a drawing of the "bouy". The section will allow dimensioning of the revolved profile.
If you have the Feature Recognition module in SW, you could use it to recognise the revolved feature, and then use the sketches to dimension to.

Thank you Regg & corblimeylimey,

1. for the first question, the 'display with solid leader' works. I was then trying to setup this in the drawing template, but could not find in the options...Does that mean I have to to this manually everytime when I put a radius or diameter dimension? That would be a pain in the neck...

2. this is the pic showing my exact problem. I could not measure the distance between the origin spot and the arc center.

Thanks again for you help!
