I'm fairly new to ASME IX, please bear with me.
Is a weld procedure which states P1-P1 welding the same as P1 gr1- P1 gr1? If someone asks for a P1 gr2 weld procedure, does the P1 or P1 gr1 cover it?
Thanks in advance

Read ASME IX, tables QW-252 through QW-265 depending on process. In most cases, group number is a supplementary essential variable. If impacts are required, then group number comes into play, and you will need to qualify in accordance with QW-403.5.

If you have no impact test requirements from the Code of Construction, Group number is not important for using a WPS.
