I realize the chemistry is the same for both products. Are there any discernible differences between these two? Our spec calls for A815 WPS31803 and our supplier says they only provide A182 F51 for products 4" and below. Why is this?

Review the material specifications side by side to better understand the differences.

ad, please show a little respect. With that attitude you wont be able to find useful advice on a board that hosts numerous experts.
First find out what the titles are of both ASTM specs. Once you know that (and thats fairly easy w/ google), call any mfr or stockist and ask them as to why ...

ad,
If you are looking at buying these materials you should own copies of the ASTM specs yourself.
When you write that number on a PO you have entered into a contract, and that spec is the basis of the contract.
If you want to go in blind that is your issue.
Buy the ASTM specs.

Then come back and post a specific question about the differing requirements perhaps.
