Different 2D part than original 3D model

Hello everyone!

I have been working for a hydro-electric company for 2-3 months and I am getting used to CATIA that I had never used before.

I'm working on a hydraulic system and I am currently putting on drawing sheets all the 3D models I designed.
All the parts are fine but one.

There is this part that gives me views in drawing that are different than the original 3D.
For example, I press the isometric view button in my drawing and then go select the real isometric view in another window, but the part that appears in the drawing is different than the 3D. I selected different generative views and it didn't change a thing.

However, when I go into the view properties, I can change the exact view option to CGR, and then I get the real thing.
But when I do, all the dimensions I add are in grey and I cannot change the color.

I did all the other parts the same way, but never had to change the view properties to get the real parts to appear.

Thanks a lot guys to help me out!

Jeff

maybe the model in the part design is rotated. click the isometric view icon (blue-ish cube on the bottom toolbar) and see what happens.

Thank you for your reply, but it's not a matter of orientation, the part is totally different.

It has features that are not even in my 3D model!

I guess I could start again because I probably made a mistake somewhere, but I don't really want to rebuild the part entirely!

Here it is.

The original 3D is below, but when I choose to pu an isometric view, I get the result above.

Goto Edit -> Links and check for the part linked to this view (Through ViewLink) which you are concerned about..

You might find the part from which this view is getting generated...

If the part is correctly referenced then perhaps a snaps of
part,
1. drawing view,
2. drawing-> edit->links and
3. part->edit-> links

might be useful to have a look.

Maddy

Looks like your drawing is based on an older version of the 3D part.

Let's try this:

1. close all the CATIA windows, exit and restart a new session of CATIA

2. open just the drawing

3. with the drawing open, go to EDIT + LINKS, then go the the Pointed Documents page which should show which 3D file the drawing is based on. Click the OPEN button to open the pointed 3D model.

Does this 3D model match the drawing?

This was a good idea, but unfortunately it didn't work. It doesn't match...
The only thing I can do to make it work, is to change the view properties from exact view to approximate view.
For some reason, it gives me the right view, but then I can't dimension the damn thing.

It is not a very long part to reproduce so I guess I'll do that.
I only wanted to avoid another similar problem with a much more complex part or help somebody with the same issue.

Thanks a lot guys!

If it doesn't match, you probably can fix it by replacing the Pointed Document (3D model) with the correct file.

Or, you can always start over and redo the drawing.

In the future, I suggest always using FILE + SAVE MANAGEMENT to keep the drawing linked to the correct 3D model. Never rename or move CATIA files, unless you do it with SAVE MANAGEMENT.
