Good afternoon from Spain,

I am interested in knowing the deduction of the earth resistance expression for different earth electrode configurations. For example I've consulted this doc on that shows simple expressions deduced mathematically for a buried rod, a horizontal plate... but I wanted to find a document that studies all the arrangements possible, for example a vertical plate there is missing, and I have found some discrepancies with other resources.

I don't know if you could help me with that, in which case I'd be very grateful.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.
Héctor

Hi Hector,

Below are additional data used in the USA for different earth (grounding) electrode configurations.

Please notice that some of the formulas may be different probably because was developed based on a regression analysis with approximation. It is suggested to plot the formulas for similar cases and check how large is the discrepancy or similarity in a particular variable range.

Thank you very much Cucky2000!
Is it possible that you quote the EPRI document you got that table from so I can look for that?

Thanks and I wish you a great start of the year :)

Regards,
Héctor

Hector,

The EPRI's reference requested can be found in Table 4-1; Geometric and Contact Resistance for Typical Surface Electrodes.
Publication:1012313; "Outline of Guide for Application of Transmission Line Surge Arresters—42 to 765 kV"; 2006.

Below is another reference that may be useful.

Likewise, have a happy and healthy new year.
