Dear all.
I have a series of diffuser pipes connected together. These pipes are welded, with holes drilled on the pipes. Water enter the pipes and exits the holes. The pressure of inside and outside the pipe is in equilibrium, with the pipe being fully submerged in water. One portion of the pipe is under 42 meter head of water and the other portion is just beneath the top level, but still submerged. The pipes are all galvanized after being welded together and field joints are joined together with clamps. There are concerns on the pipe material, welded joints as well as the clamps.
Questions:
1. What code is applicable for the construction of these pipes? B31.3 or AWS D1.1?
2. What NDT would be required? By B31.3 it should only be "some visual". The acceptance criteria would also be quite lenient.
Appreciate comments and discussions on this, thanks.
