We're practicing engineering in Alberta and APEGA (our engineering professional body) requires us to use either a traditional stamp and signature or a digital stamp and signature to authenticate documents. We are interested in moving to digital. APEGA requires that if a digital signature is used, it must be acquired through Notarius ( No other digital signatures or encryption methods are permitted.

Can anyone share their experience using Notarius digital signatures? Does the system work reliably? Any hassles or pitfalls to be aware of? Would you recommend it?

We are using Notarius E-Stamps extensively, and the users in our office are quite happy with the system. There is a little bit of a learning curve but once it becomes a habit, it saves a ton of time especially when batch-sealing a big set of drawings. The first set of 3 sets of 50 sheets of plans you have to seal and sign will pay for the added fee right off the bat with the time saving - 20-25 minutes wet-sealing vs about a minute and half with an E-seal. We are finding most municipalities are now accepting the E-sealed and electronic document submissions, and the last hold-outs are being persuaded by our association. I'm in British Columbia, and in an MEP Consulting office, and we are also APEGBC OQM Certified, so we have to seal a lot of documents to comply with the APEGBC Use of the Seal Guideline.
