Hello,

I'm using NX 7.5 and I have a little problem with dimensions.

I would like to create a symetrical extrusion and be able to dimension the whole body and not only half of it.

anybody knows how to do that?

thanks a lot in advance.

with symmetrical value selected in extrude distance enter total length/2, ie if you wanted your extrude to be 100mm long you would enter 100/2.

there is no way of dimensioning the whole body without creating an extra expression?

When you use the word "dimensioning" exactly what do you mean? Are you somehow referring to how something will be documented on a Drawing or how you enter a parameter to control the size of a model? If it's the actual 'dimension' on the drawing, that has has nothing to do with the expressions used to define the model, and if it'e the expressions, why do you care that you'll end up with an extra expression. They don't cost anything and after all, they are in reality 'formulas' and when performing some sort of mathematical exercise, it it takes more than one set of numbers to complete the formula so as to get the correct answer, who cares.

Hello John,

I actually meant the parameter to control the size of the extrusion.

seen from that point of view it's not vital to do it my way it's just easier to understand the construction without referring to the list of expressions when the part is reopend.

I take it that it is not the way NX works.

thank you anyway for your answer.

We support that sort of thing in the Sketcher when working with mirrored curves (see attached example), but not when creating a symmetrical extrusion.
