Dimensioning a broken view

My parts generally require a broken view, due to extreme aspect ratio (length/width). So I have to manually add some fixed amount to all of the dimensions. Is there some way in Draftsight or Autocad to automate this process, yet keep it "live" (If I adjust the dimension, it also changes to keep the fixed amount added but alter the dimension text like "ordinary" dimensions with the "<>".) I have a lisp routine that works, but it replaces the variable text with fixed text. I work almost entirely in a 2D environment.

Mike, I couldn't find any built in method, but I work typically in SolidWorks and only use DraftSight in the model environment. I thought about setting up a predefined view in the sheet, bringing in two aligned views of each end of the part with a dimension between them that would regenerate, but I don't have time to try this out. If you are able to find a method that works and updates the dimension, please share it.

Regards, Diego
