Hi,

I am working with NX7.5, I have few concerns over arc length dimensioning in drafting.
1. As shown in the attachment how can i give arc length dimension
2. Some times there will be splines instead of arc, in such case how to give a arc length dimension
3. How to give arc length dimension for a curve/spline which is splitted into two segments

What is the best way of giving arc length dimension keeping in view of all the above points

As of now we are giving manual dimensions, Kindly help me to resolve the same

Thanks in Advance
Regards

To start with NX only supports the STANDARD for mot for 'Arclength' dimensions as below:

As for the 'Arclength' of a spline, you will probably have to construct something which looks like a dimension and then insert the length of the spline as measured. My advice would be to create a 'Parallel Dimension' between the ends of the spline. Then go into the Expression system, create a Measurement Expression for the length of the spline, then using...

Edit -> Annotation -> Text...

...edit the value of the dimension linking it instead the Measurement Expression. Now even if I edit the spline the 'Dimension' will update to reflect it actual length.

Hi John,

Thank you for the reply, i tried your option of providing arc length dimension for splines and its working fine.

I found another method which is giving same results (i.e. arc length dim value is same for both methods) as well as associative with the models.

Please find the attachemnt for step by step procedure for the same.

Please let me know is this method feasible or not

Thanks & Regards,

That would be fine for those situations where you have a spline which is basically representing an arc, which often happens when working with translated models. But if the shape is more general, then the approach I outlined would be better.
