How do I set up the dimensioning so I can select the edge of a hole or radius as opposed to the center? Thanks.

After putting a dimension on the drawing right mouse click the dimension. Click Properties, then in the lower right you will see First arc condition.

Depends on the version of SW you are using.

Pre SW05:-
You select the edge & place the dimension, then RMB the dimension & select Properties then select the Arc conditions required.

SW05 & later:-
Depending on where you click the edge affects the positioning of the dimension points. The pre SW05 Arc conditions can also be applied.

Dimensions always default to the center of an arc/circle. Set the dimension by clicking the green check in the modify box (don't worry about the dimension value--it will change).

Right-click, select properties. You will see three buttons: Center, Min, Max. The Min sets the dimension to the near edge of the arc, the Max sets it to the far edge of the arc.

Pick the one you want. Exit Properties.

Now double-click the dimension to specify the value.

Voila!

Dang! Too slow!

Thanks, CorBlimeyLimey! I had no idea they had added that feature. I usually pick near the center of the bottom of the circle (for Horizontal Dims) or the genter of the side (for Vertical Dims) so it always comes in as "Center." Cool!

Even better. While picking the edge and the circle hold down the SHIFY key. This forces the dimension to the side of the circle you selected. Works nice, no digging for teh properties box.

Sweet!! Now how do you get outside to outside?

I constantly go through the RMB PITA. This will save me alot.

Boosie ... If you mean the "Max Arc Conditions" re-read my & rockguy's post.

And remember not to release the shift key until you place the dimension.
