I am working on fitting new air compressors to an existing system. On the drawing for the new compressors i have flanges DIN 2635 ND 40 C 32 - C 38, C28.8 and DIN 2633 C 32. ND is the pressure rating, C 32 - C 38 refers to the max OD of the pipe and C 28.8 the material. Is there a web site that will give me information as to what this material is? Also with the second flange the only information is DIN 2633 C 32, What does the C 32 refer to? ie size of pipe or material. Again is there a web site that will explain these abbreviations to me.
Many Thanks
Tom

Tom,

Probably it is a PN40 (Nominal pressure rating 40 bar) but perhaps they used "Nenndruck = ND".

This DIN norm is for Welding neck Raise face flanges WNRF. The "C" is used some times to identify the sealing face ( C= Raised face).

32 and 38 are probably the diameters 32=1 1/4" and 38 1 1/2"

link: use search function "VSF-PN40"

Still: ask for more information, the worst errors start in the interfaces.

Kind regards

Dear Tom,

for sure i can say that that ND 40 is the nominal pressure for the flange equivalent PN 40 responds ANSI class 300. C32- C38 means chapter 32-38. C22.8 means forged steel DIN No 1.0460 or ASTM A-105.
The diameters according to DIN are the following:
1/2" - DN15; 3/4" - DN 20; 1" - DN25, 11/4" - DN32, 11/2" - DN40, 2" - DN50; 3" - DN80; 4" - DN100 ....

DIN 2635 is the form standard for PN 40 weldneck flanges.
ND is an old version for DN.
The material in standard CS flange is RSt 37.2 with carbon<= 0.20%.
