DIN Module Panel Seals?

Hi all,

I have an application where I need a 35mm DIN rail module (a standard RCD) to be operated through a panel. This is not normally a problem, as I just have the 'switchy' bit protruding through the panel.

On this occasion, the panel needs to be IP65 sealed. Does anyone know where I might find a sealing 'boot' that would fit over a DIN rail module?

Thanks,
daKlone

No, but I have had customers add on a separate little IP 65 enclosure with a spring loaded locking door(if necessary) that allows easy access when needed to meet the IP requirements. The door must be held open when being used and automatically locks when released. This allows easy access for the necessary personnel.

Chris,

Do you mean a complete add-on enclsoure, with the DIN module fitted inside?

If so, then yes, I've used those too. Unfortunately, I can't add another box onto the front of my enclosure.

Thanks anyway,

That is what I meant, one other suggestion then I'm done. Is there enough realestate on the inside of the door to weld a small recessed wall or enclosure that allows the switches to protrude into. Then add an access door or flip cover onto the enclosure door.
So basicly the component mounts to a DIN rail on a fabricated box. The box mounts to a cover that allows the switch to protrude through. The the cover acts as a recessed wall on the electrical enclosure door. Now all you will need is a little access flip cover with a gasket. The flip cover will need some butterfly hardware to give you a tight seal on the gasket.

Did that make sense? Christopher Caserta

Chris,

Yes, that does make sense but I think I may have found the answer.

Omron make IP66 flip-covers for their DIN-size panel meters. Although it's not an ideal fit (the cover is designed for a 48x48 panel meter and my RCD is 36x48) I think it might do the trick.

Thanks a lot for your suggestions, though. I guess this isn't a very popular thing to do, since no-one seems to make an off-the-shelf solution.

Thanks again,
daKlone.
