Discharge storm piping onto lower roof?

Hello,

Is it acceptable by code to discharge storm piping from a higher roof of a building onto a lower roof? This lower roof is a pitched roof, and it's associated gutters/downspouts would be sized accordingly to accommodate the additional storm water from the higher roof.

Discharge to lower roofs a lot, though not to a sloped roof. If the gutters/downspouts are sized for it, I don't see any issue.

But, verify with the AHJ to save potential heartburn.

Don't know about code, but the reality in heavy rain is that the channel of water running into the gutter becomes too much for the gutter and it escapes onto the floor.

It also generally becomes a different colour where the water is a film and grows things that the other part of the roof doesn't.

So in practice needs something to deal with the storm flow velocity and aesthetically doesn't look good after a year or two.
