Hi All!

I have a model with 3 different materials (3-different sections) and they have common boundries. The elastic modulus of the materials are quite different. (about 2 times larger or smaller) I want to find the absulut maximum principal stress on one of those section. If I use the averaging option to visualise the stress results, then on the common nodes of the boundary between two element (one belongs to one section, the other belongs to another section.) then I have very high stresses on the material with lower elastic modulus.

Should I use the option Results --> Options --> Computation --> Discontinuity to overcome this problem. Or does somebody know how to visualise the real stress values on neigbouring sections with a large different elastic modulus.

Thanks in advance,

Atilim

In results I see an option to average only element sets rather than odb regions. You could also just select those material regions you are interested in and display those results.
