Hi everyone, thanks for reading this

I want to use a metal sheet to distract hot grinding chips, what material should I use for preventing from absorption of the colliding chips to the shhet (due to gradually heating of the sheet)?
should I use coating on the sheet or not?

thanks in advance

Why do you think that grinding debris would be so hot, at such an impact rate, so as not only to heat up a deflection screen, but damage it from the heat transferred?

How close is the screen to the grinding debris source?
What is your duty cycle of the grinding?
What kind of grinder, and how far do the "ships" (grinding sparks?) fly?

("chips" are not usually produced from "grinders" and grinding wheels, but from mechanical cutting and machining methods. Typical grinding debris and grit is very, very light-weight, but at an orange temperature, most cooling to 150 - 200 degrees (dark) in 12-30 inches. The mechanical impact over very long periods of time may scar very lightweight thin metals like sheetmetal or aluminum foil, but it doe not really heat the shield at all.)

Thank you so much racookpe1978,
the attached pics are my case:

I tryed this but the flying hot debris gradually heat up the sheet and coalesce which has the risk of falling on someone :)))

People usually just use mild steel and build a duct to direct the sparks away from people and equipment.

What if you use a spinning plate to deflect the sparks? As it spins, it will be exposed to cooling air, and maybe a scraper in contact or close proximity to prevent buildup as well. See my sketch attached.

Another possibility is using plate thickness, fins and forced air or some other coolant on the backside to keep the plate's surface from getting hot enough for the sparks to stick and accumulate.

Plate with a ceramic blanket or other fireproof fabric on the face? Blanket could be inspected periodically and cleaned or replaced.

Thank you guys for your kind considerations
