According to Jörg Arndt and Christoph Haenel, thirty-nine digits are sufficient to perform most cosmological calculations, because that is the accuracy necessary to calculate the volume of the universe with a precision of one atom.

If you know as many digits as boothby's daughter, you can calculate the average circumference of the moon to within a meter, or a circular football stadium accurate within a thousandth of an inch.

When I first started working, I remember asking another engineer, "How's your wife?"

"Compared to what?" was his reply.

Spoken like a true engineer!

You do realize that the pyramids were supposed to be rectangular blocks of stone? None of this cheap, easy-to-build-at-the-top pointed stuff we are stuck with today.

Pharaoh forgot he was talking to an engineer when he said "And I want them built of solid rock. Make them this wide, and this long, and this high."
