Do nothing machine 2

I am looking for a do nothing machine used to test the mechanical aptitudes of mechanics. This machines transport a rectangular piece of metal (simulating a piece of soap) through the machine.

If any one have information regarding the correct name or how can I get one please reply.

Thank you for your feedback, it is with no doubt a do nothing machine. However, what I am looking for it is a "Mechanical attitude testing machine". As far as I know this machine was designed by Proctor & Gamble to test the aptitues of mechanics for hiring and/or training porpuses.

The machines is builded with a series of cams that must be set with the correct timing to continuosly tranfer a piece of metal (similar to a soap bar) trough the machine. The idea is to asses the mechanicals skills of a person by setting the unit out of timing and request the candidate to put it back on time in a giving period of time.

I found a threat from 2006 but no information regarding manufacturer was available (if any) or drawings or any information to find one.

I've never seen a specific machine that fits your requirements, but have been involved with many that would fit the bill. We had a test where some tools were laid out and some were still in a toolbox. There were several tasks that a prospect was expected to accomplish using the proper tool. We had a small screwdriver laid out and a big screw to loosen, A hex head bolt in tight place with a slightly oversize wrench laid out, and others were the prospect would need to look for the appropriate tool for a specific task.

The first site is strictly for book learning. The second site has some courses as well as some training components. After we screened for for maintenance jobs we has a training area using full size components, pumps, valves , etc. We also had an operating head of spinning machine that encompassed gears, alignment, hydraulics, and trouble shooting.

Grea thank you. The alignment training machines will work for part of the test, I will get in contact with vendor.

I will continue my search for the do nothing (soap bar) machine.

Since we make custom machines for a living. putting one together to do what you want would be cake.

I don't have a price in mind at this time, however, as far I remember the unit, I don't think it should cost more that $1K. However, because this unit it is intended to be part of a training/selection program, the price might not be the most important factor to make a purchase decision.

If the machine does nothing, but meets your objectives, is it not doing something? So it can't be a do nothing machine.
