Does anyone in this forum use electromagnetic transient simulation? Full disclosure, I'm an employed power engineer and masters student that's totally fed up with the existing state of transient simulation software.
I'd really like to understand what folks typically use these programs for in transmission and distribution. It seems to me that with the movement toward renewable energy that we need to use transient simulation software more and more, yet the state of the art seems to have stagnated. Mainly, my questions:
Are folks using dynamic simulators such as powerworld for modeling inverter interactions on the powergrid?
Does anyone actually use electromagnetic transient simulation anymore? Or is it just my coursework?
