Does anyone know how to edit the treatment/finish in the cutting list for sheet matel?

I could change it in the drawing manually, but I cannot change it in the model. I wonder whether there is a way to change this property in the model, so that I don't need to change it in the drawing manually.

I assume the Properties list we're seeing is in the model, not the drawing. See the little check box on the right side of your red circle? Uncheck it and you can fill in whatever text you want in the Surface
Treatment field. It will only apply to that part and will appear in any drawings of that part.

To have properties from a part or an assembly show up in a drawing automatically you have to have the text linked to the property. See the image below:

Properties from the part into the drawing:

Two ways to do this Manually type it in by RMB the text and selecting "Edit text in Window".

The 2nd way is to place a CAD model that has all the properties you want to show up in your drawing into a new drawing template. Select the text and use the Link to property, select "model found here" then go to the drop-down and select the property.

Once you have all the text properties set you must save your sheet format as a file and your Template as a file. copy and paste the text to or copy the template file to a new name and reset your template options (sheet size etc...)

Hope that helps,

Hello Jboggs,
Thank you for trying to help. I know I could type whatever I want once the field is unlocked. However, this way does not change anything in the finish or treatment. I mean I would like to change the estimated value - Finish <not specific>.

Hello Scott,
Thank you for your efforts. I know how to link a property as you showed. When the property is linked, the content is linked with the model. However, I would like to change or specify the finish, like we can change the material in the model and the drawing will automatically update the property.

If you understand that, I guess I don't understand what the problem is... can attach an example of what you are trying to accomplish?

Hello Scott,
I have attached a photo, like this one.

I wonder whether there is a way to change the "Not specified" automatically. Just like we could change the material in the model, then the drawing could be updated automatically.

Thanks,

Hello Scott,
I couldn't see the picture properly, but I guess this is what I meant. I could not find something that looks like what you have in the part or drawing. Do you mind telling me where you found it?

I tried file>properties. However, the maximum information I could get is:

Weird, I thought we used to be able to click on the image and it would expand so it could be seen... anyway

I made a "property" in the part called Surface treatment. I gave it value. In the drawing, I placed the part into the drawing and created a note, and linked it to that part property.

Within the drawing:

Forever that note is going to be linked to ANY model specified in that drawing with that property.

You can now remove the part and save it as a template\sheet format. Then whenever you have a part that has that "Surface treatment" property in it the drawing will auto-update every time.

It's no different than what I originally posted I just used your property. You cannot change a part property within a drawing. You can only change where it's linked and change the item that controls the property, it's not bidirectional and I am glad it's not.

I am using SW 2020, if you have 2020, I have the files for you to download.

Hello Scott,
Thank you for your effects and time! I understand that you created a new property in the model and linked it with the drawing, so the drawing would update automatically.
I was wondering whether there was a way to change the property value in the sheet metal so that it could update with the cut list in the drawing automatically as well.

I didn't create the cut list in the first image of the post line by line manually. It is at flat-pattern drawing, then right-click, then annotation >cut list property. I guess you still misunderstand my question. However, your method also works in real practice.

Thanks,
