The H2S content in liquid sulfur from the SRU pits are at the level of 200 wppm. The liquid sulfur is stored in the pits before they load to trucks. Understand there are few degassing technology which reduces the H2S content to 10 ppm level. But to pelletise the liquid sulfur the H2S feed specifications recommended by vendor is 3 ppm . I would like to know is there any gurantee Degassing technology available to reduce the H2S content to 3 ppm level? If so could you please name the technology. thanks

The article at this address provides a good general description of the main commercial processes for sulfur degassing:

I can't say if any of these licensors would guarantee a unit down to 3 ppm; however, based on some actual testing I've had done, the Goar-Allison process is capable of degassing this deeply. I've got results in the 0 - 2 ppm range off of a GAA D'GAASS unit, but it seems to be rate dependent.

If multiple technologies could meet your spec, the size of your sulfur pit might be the next determining factor. Older SRU's often don't have enough retention time in their pit to accommodate the internal processes, so it makes the external technologies much more attractive. Also, the external units can be added without the need of an SRU outage.

I've talked to one process engineer who said years ago he got a pretty deep level of degassing just by sparging air into a plant's first few seal legs such that it bubbled up through the sulfur and into the condensers. Apparently it worked well enough to degas sulfur rather well while keeping all the sulfur species in the SRU. It wasn't enough oxygen to cause any significant sulfation of the catalyst either. I wouldn't count on this method making 3 or even 10 ppm H2S, but I found it to be a pretty elegant poor man's solution, nonetheless.

Good luck.
