Hello,
I have looked high and low for something that meets these requirements and I cannot find a single component that matches them, am I crazy or should this exist?
- Male-Female mating pair
- Both panel mount
- Mating but not locking (this seems to be the hardest requirement to meet)
- Fits 26 AWG wire
- 5 V 0.1 A rating (very relaxed low-data connection)
- <30 mm as the largest dimension
- The other basic requirements (temperature, material, etc) are all very forgiving/common.
I have looked everywhere but the non-locking connectors all seem to be board-mount. I've reached out to Digi-Key and several other suppliers and their suggestions ignore half of the requested requirements. Does anybody have any other suggestions of where to look even? Or have you come across connectors like this in your work?

Best,

Both Panel Mount, Mating but not locking sounds like you're after "Rack and Panel" connectors.

The ones I've used (McMurdo Red series) are bigger than you want, but you might look at Amphenol's RNJ series.

Any solution is likely to be quite pricy - the engineering to make them self-aligning will see to that.

A.
