Doing a "Combine Feature" With a Surface Body and a Solid Body? Need 3

I converted a part from Pro-E to Solidworks. What I am trying to do is take this part from pro-e and do a combine feature(Common. Removes all material except that which overlaps)with a solidworks part. It seems that Solidworks doesn't recognize the converted file as a Solid body but as a Surface body. I need 2 solid bodies to do a combine feature. Is it possible to convert this surface body into a solid body so I can have 2 solid bodies? If anyone knows how to do this it would be greatly appreciated.

Your best bet is to get the part exported as a dumb solid from Pro/E, preferably Parasolid, ACIS, or STEP (in that order). I haven't done it in a while, but SWX used to be able to open Pro/E parts directly.

Can you Knit the surface body to solid (Try to form Solid).
You should also be able to cut with the surface body.
Can you attach the file here?

You might be able to Thicken the surface, but, without knowing what we're actually talking about, you might not. In short, I'm offering almost no real guidance.

If it's a single manifold (ie airtight) surface you should be able to thicken it to make a solid from the enclosed volume.

If it's multiple surfaces that collectively make a manifold design then you should be able to merge the surfaces then (either in the merge command or seperately) make a solid from the volume.

If you have one or more non-manifold surfaces (ie they do NOT enclose an airtight volume), then you will have to perform some surface editing/creation to get an airtight condition, then merge/thicken to get a solid.
