Hello everyone... I am a product design student and I am supposed to design a handle that will be produced in double injection. I have a problem that I cannot understand. The section of the core is 2mm but at the second injection I have reduced it to 1mm because then that millimetre will be filled with the other material. Am I doing this correctly or does the core section have to be constant at 2 mm even at the recess?

I enclose photos of the 3D model. the yellow part is the first print and the pink part the second.
Thanks to everyone.

Here in uk it's called twinshot or overmoulding.
The first part, minus the overmoulded bit, stays in the tool, tool indexes and second material is injected in to fill the gap.
If you are specifying materials, make sure they are compatible to ensure good bonding.

I'm not sure if Facebook has ever caused the lame to walk, but it has surely caused the dumb to speak.
