Hi all,

I'm experimenting with a setup using two monitors.

I can get them both working, but now I'm having problems with Pro/E (and a few other programs).

What I'd like is to have Pro/E start maximized in my primary window, and all of the dialog boxes, menu managers, etc show up in the secondary.

I can manually drag these dialog boxes there, and if it shows up again, it pops up on the second screen, but everytime there is a new dialog box in the session, I have to shift it over to the second monitor.

I am having similar problems with some other software (Sketchup).

Does anyone know of a way to tell Pro/E (or windows, or my graphics adapter) to make any new dialog boxes show up on my secondary display?

Other than this, using the 2-monitor layout is sweet.

(I'm using an NVIDIA card with WF2 M130 on this machine)

TIA

With Nivida in the past each build of the driver would have different options for dual monitors. Try a couple of different ones.

Thanks HDS. I tried a different build and I ended up getting a completely different set of menus. I had to turn on something called Desktop Manager and then fiddle with the options in the "Window" tab while I had the second monitor set up.

Going through all those menus made me feel nostalgic about 2001 :p

Let us know which build is working best for you. I've found that the WHQL or “official” builds are best.

The NVIDIA driver version I'm using is 4.2.0.2

I went on to the NVIDIA site and under the drivers section, there is a link for PTC-compatible drivers. I was originally using the driver from the CD that accompanied the card.

I've actually run into some other minor issues (if I try to play music, the second screen is taken over by some psychedelic visualizations thanks to Windo$e Media Player). But I switched to Winamp and all is good.

I've had similar issues with wanting exactly the same thing. Having WF2 open maximized on one window and have the dialog boxes open on my second monitor. I've had my IT department look into it and after a few months of never hearing back I believe they gave up. Their usually very good about getting a solution back to me, so this issue probably is hopeless... at least at this time.

My new NVIDIA drivers gave me an option to do this. I have to have Desktop Manager on, and I have to turn an option to open child windows on my second monitor.

The other person I work with came back from vacation and took his monitor back... It was fun while it lasted.
