Anyone have information on what I recall being called Dox Plank?

There is a renovation project and I would like to extablish guidelines for what the mechanical trades can not do.

No knowledge about this product out there?

Do a "posts search" on Dox Plank and you will find some info. that might be useful.

I have an old design manual. Strescon Industries of Baltimore, MD is a former supplier. Please let me know what specific information you need along with a fax number and I'll send it to you.

Anyone recall when that type of system was invented?
30's, 40's, etc,?

I think that it was used before extruded and wet cast precast plank came into widespread use. I would guess 40's and 50's.

Is it possible a building from the 20's would have such a system?

When the plaster is removed from the ceiling, we see what appears to be butted concrete blocks about 16" in width.

Deleng,

What is the date on your manual?
(See my previous post).

Looking for profiles, standard load tables and general application requirements (for example, can plumbing penetrations pass through core hollows similar to pc planks?).

Thanks.

Guess I'll pickup vintage Seelye and Architectural Graphic Standards to see what they were doing back then.

Refer to thread507-111558 for a brief on Dox Plank.

I don't think it's Dox.
Built in 1922.
The old Architectural Graphics standards and Seelye show a joist/slab, or ribbed slab as some might say, using "cinder" blocks or clay tiles for fillers between the ribs. I think that is what we have.

SEE MY REPLIE IN FORENSIC.
Dox came about in the 50's was one of the first precast systems.dox can mostly befound in cmu,a d steel building type systems.most problemes with the system was the yeild of the steel.we where still in the steel manufacturing learing curve.thus most failures can be traced to steel failures.
